Subscriptions for kids we have enjoyed

We have enjoyed a number of subscriptions as gifts. Included below is a list of some of the subscriptions we have received over the years. I also hope to grow my list so if you have any other suggestions and/or subscriptions that you have enjoyed with your kids and family, please do let me know.

Paddington Postcards

A $20/month subscription that is educational and also helps support children around the world. Grace has enjoyed receiving Paddington’s Postcards each month and learning about other places and cultures around the world. See my review of this subscription here.

Answers magazine

We also subscribed to Answers magazine as a Christmas gift for my son. This is a creationist magazine packed with great topics, fantastic photographs and a great layout. Each issue includes the Kids Answers magazine that consists of activities and interesting information for kids. I was really impressed with the magazine. For a one year subscription you receive 4 issues. There are a variety of ways you can get hold of the ‘Answers’ magazine. You can purchase either a digital only subscription, a digital and print subscription or just a print subscription.

Club House Magazine

My girls received both the Clubhouse Jr. Magazine (ages 3 – 7) and the Clubhouse Magazine (ages 8 – 12) one year for Christmas. They were great value and came each month in the mail for a year. The initial magazines took a little longer to arrive but arrived consistently thereafter each month. You can jump onto the Focus on the Family Club House website and view some samples. The magazines are colourful, bright and well laid out. I loved that they were full of faith-building stories and activities. Kids aged 8 – 12 can even sign up for a pen pal through the clubhouse subscription.

The clubhouse website is also a great resource for families, providing craft ideas, recipes, jokes, podcasts and videos.

Bible Builds

This is a Lego based Bible focused monthly subscription with the company based in the US. We haven’t subscribed to this yet but are planning to. We will try out a month by month membership once we have finished up with most our home schooling and the next round of enrolments are open (late November 2021). Basically each week a video and a lego build challenge is sent. A parent primer is also sent with ideas to help bring the weekly Bible story into the home. New series start every 2 – 3 month. Badges and prizes can also be earnt.

I was unable to locate any external reviews on Bible Builds. Once we get into the membership I will include a review.

I put together another collection, a list of Perth specific ‘Out & About’ annual memberships. These are memberships I know my friends families have enjoyed and would make great gifts. Check out my list here.

Please do let me know if you have other great ideas and I can expand on my list.
