Get excited for the Year 5 – 7 Term 3 Persuasion & Perspectives Writing Workshop!

On offer for a small group of homeschooling students in Years 5 – 7 Term 3, 2023, is a ‘Persuasion & Perspectives Writing Workshop’. This writing unit will explore a variety of persuasive texts, explore perspectives and how we might be influenced. 

This writing workshop will run each Wednesday for 8 WEEKS during Term 3, 2023. The first workshop begins on July 26th with the last workshop on 13th September. The workshop starts at 9:30am and concludes at 11:00am. There is a short 15min break in between sessions for a play in the yard.

Students need to bring a water bottle, hat if required and snacks if they like. All other writing equipment is provided.

Teaching Style

Students engage in fun short-burst writing activities, drama, poetry, the creation of text maps, boxing up the structure of a model text, shared writing, reading, guided writing and independent creations. The approach is multi-sensory with lots of interaction and appropriately paced activities throughout a session. 

With this writing workshop, your child will:

• engage with other young writers in reading, drama, activities and writing
• build on their grammar, comprehension and vocabulary 
• identify patterns in persuasive texts
• explore writing tools and utilise these tools to enhance their writing
• directly improve their reading skills
• participate in shared writing and writing independently
• receive their own authors ‘Magpie Journal’ to organise their writing and collect ‘word treasures’

Notes are provided on my website during the term and home tasks are given along the way to make the most of the learning. Only one workshop is available at this stage with only 10 spots open for homeschooling families. Further workshops possible with interest.
